Sandra at the front desk is utterly unprofessional. She is consistently condescending over the phone, but seeing her in person was even worse—she treats her own coworkers with the exact same dismissive, disrespectful attitude. The doctor needs to wake up and address this. Someone with zero customer service skills should not have a job in medical professional environment.

I have never received the treatment that I received from this dental office. I'm still shaken. The office manager, Sandra, is very rude, verbally abusive, unprofessional and impatient. I am a senior and would not advise seniors to patronize this dental office. This individual is going to end up ruining Refresh Dental's reputation and she needs to be let go from working there. I felt very unsafe, my experience with her was terrible! She is truly demon possessed, and, unfortunately, most complaints probably go through her as the office manager and go unnoticed by the actual Dentist.

I contacted the office today regarding a new patient appointment and to obtain some basic information. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune of speaking with Sandra. I have never encountered someone so unprofessional in a medical setting; she was rude, dismissive, and flat-out refused to answer simple questions. When her attitude became unbearable, I asked to speak with her manager. She then smugly informed me that she was the manager, and when I asked who she reports to, she insisted she was the end of the line. If this is the leadership at the front desk, this practice is in serious trouble. After this interaction, I looked up their online reviews and business licenses. It is no wonder they are drowning in negative feedback. Apparently, Dr. Steven Chann, DDS, and Dr. Allan Hsu, DDS, are the principals here. They should be aware that Sandra is single-handedly driving away patients with her nasty demeanor. Just do a search of her name in the reviews and you will see that I am far from alone in my experience dealing with her. I am giving two stars instead of one because the dental care I received was good. However, the billing procedures here are awful. I was talked down to by the office manager who told me that I simply did not understand the billing codes from my insurance. I called and verified with Delta Dental that I was being overcharged. Again, Refresh said I was wrong and so I paid and immediately filed a grievance with the insurance. Sure enough, insurance confirmed that Refresh overcharged me by $1,080 and Delta gave me a refund. I’ve never been so gaslit by a dental office and I will never return. UC Berkeley employees and beneficiaries stay away!

I went to get a cleaning and it was done so poorly. My teeth did not feel clean after. It was all so rough. I asked to fix it and the dentist said oh we dont polish here. The assistant tried to help finish the cleaning but still it doesn't feel right. I've been to other clinics so I know what the proper service feels like. If they can't do such a basic service I won't be coming back for anything else.
